Who Are Heroes?
If superheroes existed in everyday life, their actions would be called crimes. The Who Are Heroes? series examines this anomaly. By placing superheroes in the context of mug shots, these works prompt viewers to think critically about societal heroes: Why do we revere them? Are they actually worthy of our admiration? How much of our perception is built upon the framework we’re given by media and group mentality? This topic is persnickety to parse, but increasingly important, especially in an age where biased and sometimes-false media are on the rise.
